A Message from the Superintendent
As you may have heard, school districts in California are facing yet another round of impending budget reductions. This year, Ronna Wolcott, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and I will be hosting a series of Budget Forums for parents, staff and community members. These Forums will have two purposes: (1) To educate attendees about the state and district budget crisis and to (2) gather input regarding potential solutions and strategies, with the goal of ensuring that we maintain the highest quality education possible for our students.
These Budget Forums will replace the Budget Task Force process that we have utilized in previous years. Informational presentations will be given by the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, and at the conclusion of each meeting, we will answer questions and gather input from participants. As Superintendent, I do highly value this input. Feedback from parents, staff and community members will assist me in preparing my final budget recommendations to the District Board of Trustees in early June.
I would like to express my thanks to all of those who have served on previous Budget Task Force Committees and look forward to your continued participation in this most important new process. Please do plan to attend. If you are unable to attend any of these meetings we will make this information available to all parents, staff, and community members on our district website following each meeting.
The first forum will be held in the District boardroom on February 2, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Future forums have been tentatively scheduled for February 16, March 29, May 7 or May 14 (depending on the availability of the Governor’s proposed May budget revisions) and June 7.
Thank you for your continued support of Rescue Union School District.
David Swart
Superintendent
